Join Us in Harrison Hot Springs (BC) for the
42nd CCMG Annual Scientific Conference held jointly with the CIHR-IG
June 10 - 13, 2018
"The Future is NOW"
CCMG-CCMG scientific conference is the largest gathering of healthcare professionals, trainees and decision-makers, with a focus on medical genetics, in Canada. Featuring high-profile keynote speakers; cutting-edge panels on current issues in genetics; and a wealth of networking activities, the conference is the country’s premier event for evidence-informed discussion and debate on health care. The 42nd Annual Scientific Conference will feature a multi-disciplinary scientific program, renowned guest speakers, an extensive two-day trade show, and a great social program.
Message of Invitation:
The Scientific Program Committee invites you to the annual 2018 CCMG meeting held jointly with the CIHR Institute of Genetics in Harrison Hot Springs in the breathtakingly beautiful Coast Mountains of British Columbia. As you review the program, you will notice a several changes made in response to the feedback after the Montreal meeting.
Our opening keynote speaker will be Rick Guidotti, an award-winning NYC photographer. Rick has spent the past twenty years collaborating internationally with advocacy organizations, NGOs, hospitals, and educational institutions to affect a sea-change in societal attitudes towards individuals living with genetic, physical, behavioral or intellectual differences. As the founder of Positive Exposure, he utilizes the visual arts to provide new opportunities to see an individual living with a difference first and foremost as a human being, rather than as a specific diagnosis or disease entity.
There will be three joint morning symposia held with the CIHR-IG which will showcase speakers from both groups and allow for networking between clinicians and basic scientists: Nephrogenetics, Prenatal Genetics and Genomics, and Personalized Medicine. A separate CCMG symposium on overgrowth syndromes given by international leaders in the field will be held on Tuesday afternoon.
The workshop “The Future is NOW—Coping with the Challenges and Innovating Solutions in the Genetics Clinic & Laboratory” will be the only workshop offered this year. The CCMG leadership is hoping for input on this important topic from the broadest cross-section of the CCMG membership and therefore we have scheduled it for Monday afternoon. We invite you to review its objectives to kickstart your thinking and we hope that the conversations will continue for the duration of the conference.
Hoping to see you there!
